Hi there, I’m Cooper. I’m a bit of a special guy, and I need an understanding home with a kind, gentle new family who are prepared to be patient with me, please.

I’m currently in foster care, living with other greyhounds, and I’m fine with this. Having another dog around does help my confidence, but I’d be okay being your only dog, too, if that’s the case. It just means more attention for me, right?

I can be very unsure of new people, and for this reason it’s essential I have my crate – it’s my safe space and the place I go if I’m afraid or need some alone time. It’s important I’m not allowed on the couch or bed, particularly if you have another dog (I’ve shown some resource guarding in the past). I love my crate anyway, and am happy so long as I have access to it.

I am toilet trained, but will need my new owners to stick to a strict “puppy-like” toilet schedule with me for the first week or two, as I do sometimes forget my training if I feel stressed.

I’ve proven to be okay with kids aged over 10 years, and I really am super affectionate once I feel able to open up. My foster carers say I have such a cute, loveable personality; it just takes patience to allow it to shine through. Once I’ve managed to warm up to new people, I’m the sweetest hound and will make such a lovely companion. Can you help me get to that point? I promise I’m worth the effort.

Adoption process

We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks. We have dogs that are small dog and cat friendly.

We expect greyhounds to be 'indoor dogs' and not left alone for long periods of time. Ideally they would have a doggy or human friend for company most of the time.
